Federal grant of $1.2 million to fund 26-mile trail system at wildlife area near Harrisburg

CARRIER MILLS (Nov. 15, 2017) — A new project will make southern Illinois a destination for off-road riders, Gov. Rauner said while announcing development of a 26-mile off-highway vehicle trail system at Sahara Woods State Fish and Wildlife Area.

Klinger succeeds James Joseph, now with FEMA

SPRINGFIELD (Nov. 13) — Gov. Bruce Rauner today announced that he has appointed Joseph G. Klinger as acting director for the state’s Emergency Management Agency.

Klinger has worked for the state since 1988 and previously served as IEMA’s assistant director from January 2007 to May 2010, interim director from May 2010 to February 2011, and most recently as deputy director since February 2015.

“We are deeply saddened by the death of Officer Jaimie Cox,” said Gov. Rauner. “He paid the ultimate price while working to keep our communities safe. My thoughts and prayers are with his family as they find a way to cope with this tragic loss.”


LEED silver certification anticipated for 1.5 million-square-foot Wilmington facility

WILMINGTON (Nov. 7, 2017) — Gov. Bruce Rauner joined area officials at a ribbon cutting today to open a new 1.5 million-square-foot distribution center for General Mills. The facility, located at the rapidly developing RidgePort Logistics Center in Wilmington, could employ up to 150 people when it is fully operational.
