New law will help law enforcement focus on reducing crime

CHICAGO (Aug. 28, 2017) – Gov. Bruce Rauner today signed Senate Bill 31 – the TRUST Act – which will continue Illinois’ history of welcoming immigrants and help law enforcement focus on stopping violent crime and protecting Illinois residents.

Governor, Lieutenant Governor visit historic sites, first state capital on Illinois Constitution Day

HB 2897 will help provide comfort for veterans transitioning back to civilian life

MARION (Aug. 25, 2017) – Governor Bruce Rauner today signed HB 2897, legislation to increase access to service dogs for veterans through the Helping Paws Program. This expansion will add veterans to the program-eligibility pool and allow the training of service dogs to assist veterans with physical or mental health ailments.

CHICAGO (Aug. 24, 2017) – General Counsel Dennis Murashko will leave the Administration at the end of August to pursue opportunities in the private sector. As part of the legal team's succession planning, Kenton Skarin will assume the role of Acting General Counsel to the Governor. He currently is serving as the Governor's Deputy General Counsel and is responsible for managing all aspects of legal operations within the Administration.

NAPERVILLE (Aug. 24, 2017) – Gov. Bruce Rauner today signed House Bill 418, which prevents retired police officers from opting into the pension system a second time if they return to the force as a police chief or join another municipality’s force.
