Every year, this statewide tradition offers new opportunities for Iowans to learn more about the people, places, and points of pride that have influenced their communities, state, country, and, in many cases, the entire world.

Hadley Appel, Kailin Stiles-Pena, and Addison Woelfel of Bettendorf Middle School; Raegan Reicks of Harding Middle School in Cedar Rapids; and Caleb Sinnwell of Nashua-Plainfield Junior/Senior High School medaled in their respective categories.

DES MOINES, IOWA (June 20, 2023) Lieutenant Governor Adam Gregg joined the State Historical Society of Iowa Board of Trustees last week to present the annual Excellence in Iowa History Awards during a ceremony at the Lakeview Community Center in Clear Lake.

The awards honor individuals, organizations and communities that make outstanding contributions to the field of Iowa history. The State Historical Society of Iowa is a division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs.

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 27, 2023) — Sixty-two Iowa students took top honors in the National History Day in Iowa contest Monday, April 24, and advanced to compete in the national contest in June.
