DES MOINES, IOWA (April 19, 2022) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate is partnering with the Iowa Wild hockey team to promote being #VoterReady ahead of the June 7 primary election and help fans register to vote during the games on Friday, April 22, and Saturday, April 23, in Des Moines.

Staff from the Secretary of State’s Office will be on hand to help register fans to vote and answer questions about upcoming elections. Sec Pate will be dropping the puck ahead Friday’s game.

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 13, 2022) — More than 10,000 students across Iowa made their voices heard about the upcoming election by participating in Secretary of State Paul Pate’s Iowa Youth Straw Poll this week. Students in K-12 schools were invited to vote for their preferred candidates in Iowa’s congressional and gubernatorial races.

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 13, 2022) — April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and Secretary of State Paul Pate is reminding Iowans that address-confidentiality is available for those needing an extra layer of protection. Iowa’s Safe at Home program provides a substitute address for survivors of sexual abuse, domestic violence, assault, trafficking, and stalking. The program is administered by the Iowa Secretary of State’s Office.

On Tuesday, April 12, Sec Pate will poll students on their preferred choices. More than 160 schools have registered to participate so far.

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 30, 2022) — The State Objection Panel, comprised of Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate, State Auditor Rob Sand and Attorney General Tom Miller, met Tuesday to hear several challenges to candidates’ nomination petitions for the June 7 primary ballot.

The following rulings were made:

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 29, 2022) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate announces the absentee ballot request period for the June 7 primary election is now open. Voters wishing to cast their ballot through the mail can submit their request for an absentee ballot beginning today. Iowa law allows a seventy-day request-period for absentee ballots.

County auditors can begin mailing absentee ballots twenty days ahead of Election Day, which will be Wednesday, May 18.

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 28, 2022) — The State Objection Panel, comprised of Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate, Attorney General Tom Miller, and State Auditor Rob Sand, will convene Tuesday, March 29 to review challenges to several candidates’ nomination petitions. The meeting is scheduled for 10AM in Room G15 (the legislative dining room) on the first floor of the Iowa State Capitol.

The Elections Performance Index, compiled by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Election Data and Science Lab, ranks states based on voter turnout, voter registration rate, and overall administration of elections.
