DES MOINES, IOWA (February 4, 2021) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate announces a plan to provide grants of $10,000 to each Iowa county for election cybersecurity enhancements. The grants will build upon Iowa’s solid foundation of cyber defenses.
DES MOINES, IOWA (January 14, 2021) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate is encouraging all Iowa high schools to participate in a statewide effort to register students to vote. Each school that registers at least 90 percent of their eligible students by April 16 will receive the 2021 Carrie Chapman Catt Award, named after the Iowan who was a national leader in the women’s suffrage movement.

The letter was sent to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, and Minority Leader of the House Kevin McCarthy.
DES MOINES, IOWA (December 1, 2020) — The Iowa State Canvassing Board has officially certified the results of the 2020 general election on Monday. Election turnout was the highest in state history, with more than 1.7 million voters casting ballots. Iowa’s turnout percentage of 76% was one of the highest in the nation.
DES MOINES, IOWA (November 2, 2020) — A record number of Iowans are registered to vote, Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate has announced. Iowa has 2,095,581 active registered voters in the state. The previous high came in the months following the 2016 general election.
DES MOINES, IOWA (October 26, 2020) — Thousands of students across Iowa will cast ballots for their preferred presidential and congressional candidates in the upcoming Iowa Youth Straw Poll. On Tuesday, October 27, one week before Election Day, Secretary of State Paul Pate will poll students on their preferred choices. More than 250 schools have registered to participate so far.
