DES MOINES, IOWA (February 11, 2020) — Employers, non-profit groups, and educational institutions are encouraged to apply for the Future Ready Iowa Summer Youth Intern Program grant, a funding opportunity to place youth at risk of not graduating high school in internships primarily in high-demand career fields. The State of Iowa has appropriated $250,000 of funds to support the Summer Youth Intern program. The application period opens February 11 and closes March 11. 

DES MOINES, IOWA (January 22, 2020) — Iowa Workforce Development and community partners invite the public to celebrate the opening of the new IowaWORKS satellite office at Park Fair Mall on January 28. The open house will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the atrium at 9AM, followed by tours at the new center.

DES MOINES, IOWA (December 3, 2019) — Today, Governor Kim Reynolds announced 22 recipients of the Employer Innovation Fund, a matching grant that helps employers provide postsecondary training and education opportunities for their employees. The second round of Employer Innovation Fund Grants will distribute $568,000 to employers and employer consortiums across the state. A third-round application period with $244,200 in remaining funds will open December 3 and close December 17. 

DES MOINES, IOWA (October 19, 2019) — Iowa’s seasonally-adjusted unemployment-rate remained at 2.5 percent in September. The state’s jobless rate was 2.4 percent one year ago. The US unemployment rate fell to 3.5 percent in September.
