It might still be chilly outside, but there’s plenty to do inside with our February lineup of kids arts and crafts programs. Come to one or all four!

Thursday, February 8 at 4:00pm at Eastern (6000 Eastern Avenue) – “Collage Mandala.” Create a dynamic layer mandala by mixing and matching card stock and scrapbook paper. Registration required.

It’s almost time for the annual QC Area Teen Video Contest! You’re invited to create and submit a 3-5 minute video on this year’s theme, “Libraries are for Creating.” Videos will be shown on the Putnum Museum’s Giant Screen at the Teen Video Contest Premiere Party on Thursday March 8 at 6:00pm. Entry forms and complete rules are available at the Library.

Cheryl Raley-Kirk from the Source Bookstore will provide insight into rare, out-of-print and collectible books at the “Rare and Valuable Books” presentation. Join us at Main (321 Main Street) on Tuesday, February 13 at 1:00pm to learn what makes a book rare and collectible, how to identify a first edition and how to research a books value. Cheryl will also talk about proper book descriptions, bindings, parts of a book and signed books.

Join us for Afternoon Storytime, now at a new time! We’ll be at Eastern (6000 Eastern Avenue) on Tuesday, February 13 at 3:30pm. This month the theme is “Snow Stories”. We’ll have stories, songs and activities for kids of all ages for a fun and cozy program!

Celebrate Valentine’s Day at the Davenport Library! Join us at Fairmount (3000 Fairmount Street) on Saturday, February 10 at 10:00am. We’ll make our own valentines, decorate cookies and play games! Kids of all ages are welcome to attend.

Steph DeLacy, choreographer for Jr Theater’s production of Seussical, Jr will lead acting games and teach us some of the dance steps from the musical. Come to Eastern (6000 Eastern Avenue) on Saturday, February 3 at 10:00am for lots of Seussical fun!

It’s a party! Join us at Main (321 Main Street) on Monday, January 29 at 6:00pm for a party featuring giant board games – Kerplunk, Jenga, Connect Four, Uno, Checkers, Chess, Light Bright, Tetris and more! Snacks will be provided.  This event is FREE and open to the public.

As part of the African American History Month, join us at Main (321 Main Street) on Saturday, February 3 at 2:00pm for a screening of the movie “Fences” starring Denzel Washington and Viola Davis.

Back by popular demand! Beat the winter blues and join us at Fairmount (3000 Fairmount Street) on Saturday, January 27 at 10:00am for a special storytime dedicated completely to music. Sing, dance and get your wiggles out with all kinds of music and instruments you can play!
