IOWA CITY, IOWA (September 17, 2019) — 260 current University of Iowa students are members of the 2019 Hawkeye Marching Band, one of the "top ten college marching bands in the nation," according to CNN Headline News and one of the Big Ten Conference's marching bands whose halftime show is "worth the watch," according to Sports Illustrated.

IOWA CITY, IOWA (September 9, 2019) — The University of Iowa's Carver College of Medicine held its 25th annual White Coat Ceremony in August for first-year students beginning their medical education at the UI. The event welcomed the Carver College of Medicine Class of 2023, and represented the first time the 152 future physicians recited the Oath of Hippocrates, calling attention to the importance of the doctor-patient relationship.

IOWA CITY, IOWA (June 19, 2019) — Alexis Tansey, a University of Iowa student from Bettendorf, Iowa, studying in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was named to the UI's Dean's List for the spring 2019 semester.

IOWA CITY, IOWA (June 12, 2019) — More than 4,800 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students at the University of Iowa recently participated in graduation ceremonies.

The UI's spring 2019 graduates had an average cumulative undergraduate grade-point average of 3.16 on a 4.0 scale. In addition, 16 percent of the graduating-class graduated with multiple majors and 355 undergraduates graduated with honors.

IOWA CITY, IOWA (May 22/2019) — More than 100 Iowa City-area elementary-school students participated in Healthy LifeStars, an initiative from the University of Iowa College of Public Health staffed by current UI students that fights childhood obesity by encouraging students to be more active and eat more nutritious food. Childhood obesity has become a serious public health-issue in the US, as more and more children are classified as significantly overweight.

IOWA CITY, IOWA (May 15, 2019) -- Eight students were recognized with scholarships to honor their work and commitment to women's issues, diversity, and social activism at the University of Iowa's annual Celebration of Excellence and Achievement Among Women.

Charlotte Gude, from Burnsville, Minnesota, an undergraduate in political science and social justice, in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS), received the Adele Kimm Scholarship.
