WASHINGTON DC (April 29, 2020) — The 2018 Farm Bill called for technological enhancements to improve the ability of the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) National Organic Program (NOP) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to oversee imported organic products. The electronic organic import certificates envisioned in The Farm Bill will provide critical organic import-data and make it easier to monitor organic-imports.

WASHINGTON DC (April 20, 2020) — With input from the Board and the organic community, we are modifying the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) Spring Meeting 2020 to be held live online, instead of in-person. This will allow the Board to move forward with deliberations as scheduled in an open and public setting.

WASHINGTON DC (December 2, 2019) — The National Organic Program updated NOP 2040: Instruction on Organic Certification of Industrial Hemp. The updated instruction applies to all USDA-accredited certifying agents and replaces the August 2016 version of NOP 2040.

WASHINGTON DC (November 7, 2019) — The National Organic Program, Compliance, and Enforcement/Appeals Annual Summary for Fiscal Year 2019 is now available on the NOP website. The report provides a summary of incoming complaints and appeals, initial actions taken, suspensions, revocations, and case-dispositions during the past fiscal year. Fourth-quarter data show a significant increase in the number of investigations closed, as well as inquiries and appeals resolved.
