Santa Claus, local authors and artisans, and a lot of ugly sweaters are among the guaranteed sights at this year's Christmas in LeClaire weekend, with holiday-themed events scheduled at more than a dozen downtown locales between December 1 and 3.

On December 1, food and beverages will be available during the Masonic Lodge's annual cookie sale, with the Mississippi River Distilling Company presenting a seasonal First Friday night with free hors d'oeuvres and cocktail samples, and LeClaire's Riverside Foursquare Church hosting a bake sale with a cookie-decorating activity and free hot chocolate for the kids. The LeClaire Civic Center, meanwhile, with find local author Tim Ayers signing his books from 10 a.m. to noon, Blake Ross signing both books and prints, and Jaan Hebrank demonstrating her leather crafts from noon to 4 p.m.

Among the seasonal events scheduled for December 2: an 8 a.m. Breakfast with Santa held at the LeClaire Happy Joe's; balloon artist Jason Hamilton entertaining Granite Exact crowds from 3 to 5 p.m.; area artisan Luke Travers creating wooden shoes at the LeClaire Civic Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; lace-making demonstrations, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the LeClaire Information Center; and the Second-Annual Ugly Christmas Sweater 5K Run, with loudly dressed participants meeting at Blackhawk Band & Trust (323 South Second Street) at 10 a.m.

And on December 3, 2017's Christmas in LeClaire weekend will conclude with more crafts and baked goods available at the LeClaire Civic Center, plus Santa and other familiar holiday figures strolling the downtown streets from 1 to 3 p.m.
