Senior Citizen Riverfront Golf Cart Tour - September 7

For the 18th consecutive year, River Action will host area tours for senior citizens that utilize existing riverfront trails, allowing participants to see and learn about beautiful area locales and landmarks from the front seat of covered golf carts.

There are six guided tours to choose from. The “Iowa Tour Alpha” (11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.) begins at Credit Island and focuses on Nahant Marsh and Carp Lake, while “Iowa Tour #1” (2 – 4 p.m.), which also starts at Credit Island, tours the Bettendorf and Davenport riverfronts while traveling to Leach Park and Back. Meanwhile, “Iowa Tour #2” (11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., and 2 – 4 p.m.) begins at Arsenal Island and makes stops at Memorial Park, the Colonel Davenport House, and the Corps Visitor’s Center. (You must bring a valid ID to enter the island.)

For those wanting an Illinois-based experience, three separate tours are scheduled for 9 – 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., and 2 – 4 p.m. “Illinois Tour #3” visits Rock Island and Moline riverfronts starting at and returning to Sunset Park, traveling to Sylvan Island, Moline, and the Ben Butterworth Parkway. “Illinois Tour #4” starts and returns at the end of the Ben Butterworth Parkway, and takes travelers through East Moline and Hampton, with sights including The Quarter, Empire Park, Hampton’s Riverfront Park, Illiniwek State Park, and Lock and Dam #14. And “Illinois Tour #5” begins in Rapids City and goes through Port Byron all the way to Cordova.
