Art of the Brew: Lorrie Morgan and Suzy Bogguss at the Figge Art Museum -- August 21.

On August 21, Figge Art Museum visitors are invited to experience an evening of phenomenal country music and craft beer when music legends Lorrie Morgan and Suzy Bogguss, alongside special guest Angela Meyer, light up the night in the 2025 Art of the Brew, an exhilarating outdoor celebration held on the Figge plaza.
Lorrie Morgan is the daughter of George Morgan, widow of Keith Whitley, and ex-wife of Jon Randall and Sammy Kershaw, all of whom are also country music singers. Morgan has been active as a singer since the age of 13, and charted her first single in 1979. She achieved her greatest success between 1988 and 1999, recording for RCA Records and the defunct BNA Records. Her first two RCA albums (Leave the Light On and Something in Red) and her BNA album Watch Me are all certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The 1995 compilation Reflections: Greatest Hits is her best-selling album with a double-platinum certification; War Paint, Greater Need, and Shakin' Things Up, also on BNA, are certified gold.
Morgan has made more than 40 chart entries on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, including three number-one singles: "Five Minutes", "What Part of No", and "I Didn't Know My Own Strength", and 11 additional top-10 hits. Morgan has recorded in collaboration with her father, as well as Whitley, Randall, Kershaw, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mathis, Tammy Wynette, The Beach Boys, Dolly Parton, Andy Williams, the New World Philharmonic, and Pam Tillis. She is also a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Morgan's musical style is defined largely by country pop influences and her dramatic singing voice, with frequent stylistic comparisons to Tammy Wynette.
Suzy Bogguss began her career in the 1980s as a solo singer, During the creative explosion that was country music in the 1990s Suzy Bogguss sold 4 million records with sparkling radio hits including “Outbound Plane,” “Someday Soon,” “Letting Go,” “Drive South,” and “Hey Cinderella.” In the midst of her country popularity, she took time off to make a duets album with the legendary Chet Atkins. In 2003, she made an album of modern swing music with Ray Benson of Asleep at the Wheel. An album of original music in 2007 landed her at number four on the jazz charts. Her folk-music roots, meanwhile, showed through in her frequent appearances on public radio’s A Prairie Home Companion, and in the Grammy she earned for her work on Beautiful Dreamer: The Songs of Stephen Foster.
In 2014, Bogguss released Lucky, a collection of songs written by Merle Haggard and interpreted through Suzy’s crystal vocals from the female point of view. Her latest offering, Prayin’ For Sunshine, is an Americana tour de force with all songs written by Bogguss. She continues to tour the world, both on her own and with fellow country radio divas Terri Clark and Pam Tills as “Chicks With Hits” and, more recently, with Kathy Mattea on their “Together At Last” tour.
The Art of the Brew event begins on August 21 with 6 p.m. doors and the craft-beer tasting, participating vendors including Twin Span Brewing, Potosi Brewing Company, Front Street Brewery, Green Tree Brewery, Bent River Brewing Company, and Wake Brewing. At 7 p.m., local favorite singer/songwriter Angela Meyer takes the outdoor stage, with performances by Lorrie Morgan and Suzy Bogguss following.
