Friday, November 1, 8 p.m.
The Redstone Room, 129 Main Street, Davenport IA
Bringing their wildly popular "Harvest the Wind Tour '24" to Davenport, the tribute artists of Bearly Dead headline a Redstone Room concert on November 1, the rockers continuing to add to their 250-plus-song catalog and showcase authentic, spontaneous improvisation in their celebration of the Grateful Dead.
A cosmic exploration of the Grateful Dead repertoire, the Boston-based quintet of Bearly Dead performs a concert-style show that celebrates the journey of its musical inspiration from their earliest records until their final tours, delivering a full-spectrum experience filled with danceable energy and world-class musicianship. Bearly Dead played their first show at Church of Boston in 2015, marking the beginning of its hallowed Wednesday-night residency. Over the next five years, the phrase “Never Miss a Wednesday Show” became ubiquitous around Boston, and Bearly Dead was nominated multiple times for the Boston Music Awards' Live Music Residency of the Year. Bearly Dead shows have featured notable appearances by Mike Campbell (Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers), Paul Wolstencroft (Slightly Stoopid), Steve Molitz (Particle/Phil Lesh & Friends), Kebbi Williams (Tedeschi Trucks Band), Rob Compa (Dopapod), Hayley Jane (Hayley Jane & The Primates), Richard James (Neighbor), and Johnny Trama (Dub Apocalypse) — and even a surprise appearance by Jerry Garcia’s “Wolf” guitar in 2018 on Garcia’s birthday.
Bearly Dead performs at Massachusetts’ most prestigious venues, including Paradise Rock Club, Sinclair, and the Worcester Palladium, as well as headlining at MGM Music Hall Fenway and House of Blues Boston. After becoming a staple in the Northeast U.S. festival community with multiple appearances at Camp Creek, Jerry Jam, Strange Creek Campout, and many more, it was only a matter of time before Bearly Dead shows were being requested around the USA. In October of 2022, Bearly Dead saddled up a new van and began touring nationally, performing their interpretation of the catalog across the United States and growing the family all along the way.
Despite having only one Top-40 single in their 30-year career, 1987's "Touch of Grey," the Grateful Dead remained among the highest-grossing American touring acts for decades. They gained a committed fanbase by word of mouth and through the free exchange of their live recordings, encouraged by the band's allowance of taping. In 2024, they broke the record for most Top-40 albums on the Billboard 200 chart. Rolling Stone ranked the group number 57 on its 2011 list of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time," and the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994. A recording of their May 8, 1977 performance at Cornell University's Barton Hall was also added to the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress in 2012 for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant," and earlier this year, the four living core members (Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann, and Mickey Hart) were recognized as part of the Kennedy Center Honors.
