Performing in a special concert event at Davenport's Trinity Episcopal Cathedral Parish Hall on March 11, New-York based violinist Anna Elashvili and Chamber Music Quad Cities co-director Thomas Sauer will deliver a recital program of classic violin sonatas by Johannes Brahms and Maurice Ravel, these beautiful works presented alongside short, melodious character pieces by composers Christoph Glück, Antonin Dvorák, and Georges Boulanger.

Hailed as “riveting” by the New York Times, Anna Elashvili has appeared as a soloist, chamber musician, and concertmaster around the world. She has collaborated with renowned artists such as Lynn Harrell, Dawn Upshaw, Daniel Hope, and Maxim Vengerov, and is a member of Decoda, an Affiliate Ensemble of Carnegie Hall. Elashvili has also appeared with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, East Coast Chamber Orchestra, NOVUS NY, Musicians of Lenox Hill, and the Mark Morris Dance Orchestra, and performs on a Sam Zygmuntowicz violin through a generous extended loan.

For seven years, Elashvili served as the first violinist of the Bryant Park Quartet. Having received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from the Juilliard School and having completed a two-year fellowship at Carnegie’s program Ensemble Connect. her international travels include concerts in England, Mexico, Germany, Canada, Israel, Iceland, and Abu Dhabi, among numerous others. Currently on the violin faculty the Special Music School and Yellow Barn’s Young Artist Program, the artist has attended summer festivals including Yellow Barn, Perlman Music Program, Tanglewood, and the Verbier Music Festival, where she served as concertmaster for several European tours. Elashvili has also written arrangements for Decoda, the Bryant Park Quartet, and other ensembles, and has worked closely with the Lar Lubovitch and Mark Morris Dance Groups, Wendy Whelan, and Dance Heginbotham.

Thomas Sauer

Pianist Thomas Sauer is highly sought after as a soloist and chamber musician in a wide range of repertoire. Recent appearances include Carnegie Hall, St. John’s College, Oxford, and the Chamber Music Societies of Lincoln Center, Boston, and Philadelphia, and with his longtime duo partner Colin Carr, Sauer has appeared at the Wigmore Hall (London), the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum (Boston), and Da Camera (Houston). Additionally, he has performed with members of the Juilliard String Quartet at the Library of Congress and given numerous concerts with the Brentano String Quartet. Sauer’s varied discography includes recordings of Beethoven and Haydn piano sonatas; with Colin Carr, the complete cello and piano works of Mendelssohn and Beethoven; music of Hindemith with violist Misha Amory; music of Britten and Schnittke with cellist Wilhelmina Smith; and music of James Matheson.
