Color Green at the Raccoon Motel -- November 30.

Saturday, November 30, 7 p.m.

Raccoon Motel, 315 East Second Street, Davenport IA

Touring in support of their acclaimed sophomore album Fools Parade, the summertime release hailed by Far Out Magazine as "another stellar bag of sincere and captivating psychedelia," the California-based rockers of Color Green headline a November 30 concert at Davenport's Raccoon Motel, their latest inspiring Psychedelic Scene to rave, "With each note and every lyric, they invite listeners to join them on a transcendent sonic adventure, where the only limit is the boundless expanse of the imagination."

The art-rock, funk, and roots ensemble Color Green, as stated at AllMusic.com, "was formed by Noah Kohll and Corey Madden in 2018. Kohll was born in Omaha, Nebraska, and soaked up his first musical influences from his mother, who worked at a record store and loved Jimi Hendrix and Prince, as well as his father, a pharmacist who revered the Band and AC/DC. Madden, meanwhile, grew up in a home where the Rolling Stones and Motown hits of the 1960s were in steady rotation, and when he was 12 years old, one of his brother's friends gave Corey a Stratocaster copy and he taught himself to play. Both of them played in a variety of bands in their teens and early twenties (Kohll's resumé includes stints in Young Guv and Surf Curse, and Madden worked with Grave Flowers Bongo Band and Paranoiac) before the two met while working for a coffee roasting company in Brooklyn, New York. Madden had a rehearsal space, and after jamming a few times, Color Green was born.

"After relocating to Ridgewood, Queens, Kohll and Madden began jamming and writing songs in earnest, and armed with a Tascam 488 Portastudio, they began recording material that would appear on their first EP. In time, the duo settled in the California desert, and their debut four-song release was issued digitally and on cassette in 2021. By the time the EP arrived, Kohll and Madden had already written most of their first full-length album while they were waiting out the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown with friends in Taos, New Mexico. Rather than record at home, Color Green booked time at their friend Jonny Kosmo's personal studio, Slimehouse Studio, and in July 2022, their debut LP, Color Green, a more polished and stylistically diverse effort, was issued by Aquarium Drunkard Records in collaboration with ORG Music. Plenty of live work followed the release as the band and the album won acclaim in the indie music media, and the group established a solid lineup with Kohll and Madden joined by Kyla Perlmutter on bass and vocals and Corey Rose on drums and vocals. Color Green's growing reputation attracted the attention of New West Records, which signed them to a record deal and issued their second full-length effort, Fool's Parade, in July 2024."

Color Green headlines their Davenport engagement on November 30 with an additional set by Glyders, admission to the 7 p.m. concert is $19.84, and tickets are available by visiting TheRaccoonMotel.com.
