Lauded by Premier Guitar as an artist who “plays guitar with a high-gain edge and slashing tone,” a famed blues rocker brings his outfit to Davenport when the Devon Allman Project plays the Redstone Room at Common Chord on August 25, Americana Highways hailing the artist's 2025 album The Blues Summit as “an immersive tribute to the storied musical genre of the blues and a wonderful addition to Devon Allman's extensive catalog.”
Allman is the son of Gregory Lenoir "Gregg" Allman (of the Allman Brothers Band) and Shelley Kay Winters. His parents divorced when he was an infant, and he grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas, in Cleveland, Ohio, in Tennessee, and in St. Louis, Missouri, raised by his mother. Allman began playing music as a teen, and in the 1990s, he performed around the growing St. Louis blues and rock music scene, while also managing a suburban Guitar Center store where he met his future Royal Southern Brotherhood bandmate, Mike Zito. In his twenties, Allman tried various musical styles and sounds to distance himself from his father's sound and avoid obvious comparisons, but while in his thirties, the now-54-year-old musician embraced the blues and rock genres.
Now celebrating 20 years since the release of his first album and national tour, the “20 Years Strong Tour” is a special retrospective show featuring music from across Allman's illustrious career – including the Allman Betts Band, Devon Allman’s Blues Summit, Royal Southern Brotherhood, Honeytribe, Devon Allman & Donavon Frankenreiter’s Rollers, and classic songs from the Allman Brothers Band catalog.
Allman first gained widespread recognition with Honeytribe and later as co-founder of the acclaimed super-group Royal Southern Brotherhood. Since then, he has carved out a powerful independent career that honors the traditions of blues and the jam-band world while delivering a modern sound and original songwriting voice. With multiple albums and years of global touring under his belt, Allman is known for electrifying live performances, top-tier musicianship, and a signature style that blends blues, rock, soul, and improvisation into a distinctly contemporary Southern sound.
Joining the Devon Allman Project in their local appearance are the blues artists of GA-20.In their short history, GA-20 have been three-time number-one Billboard Blues chart toppers, four-time Boston Music Award winners for Best Blues Act, and have received multiple wins and nominations at the Blues Music Awards, Blues Blast Awards, New England Blues Awards.
