Ginuwine in the Up Close & Personal Tour at the Davenport RiverCenter -- November 18.

Saturday, November 18, 9 p.m.

Davenport RiverCenter, 136 East Third Street, Davenport IA

On November 18, R&B will be given a healthy dose of G&C when the Davenport RiverCenter hosts the area arrival of the Up Close & Personal Tour, a night of music and comedy featuring headliners Ginuwine and Case.

One of R&B's top-selling artists during the late 1990s and early 2000s, Ginuwine – the stage name of Elgin Baylor Lumpkin – began his career as a member of the New York-based record label and music compound Swing Mob, where he met fellow artists including rapper Missy Elliott and producer Timothy “Timbaland” Mosley. Their collaboration led to the release of the debut album Ginuwine … The Bachelor, which sold double-platinum and found its song “Pony” peaking at number-six on the Billboard Top 100. In the years since, Ginuwine's credits have included additional platinum-sellers in 100% Ginuwine and The Life; top-10 hits in “Last Chance,” “In Those Jeans,” “So Anxious,” and the chart-topping “Differences”; and co-founding the R&B trio TGT alongside Tyrese and Tank, whose debut album Three Kings scored a 2013 Grammy nomination.

The solo career of Case (Woodard) first took off in 1996 with the release of “Touch Me, Tease Me” for The Nutty Professor soundtrack, which reached number-14 on the Billboard Top 100 and number-four on the R&B charts. His self-titled debut Case soon followed and boasted hit songs in “More to Love” and “I Gotcha,” and Case's 1999 album Personal Conversation founds its songs “Happily Ever After” and “Faded Pictures” each making Billboard's top-three. Subsequent hits for the artist have included the gold-selling R&B album Open Letter and the chart-topping single “Missing You.”

The Up Close & Personal Tour is hosted by DJ Captain and features sets by comedians Maurice G., Damon Williams, and Kenny Howell. Tickets are $48-68 – with post-show tickets for a Ginuwine meet-and-greet $40 – and can be reserved by calling (800)745-3000 or visiting RiverCtr.com.
