Grace Kelly at the Redstone Room - September 17.

Sunday, September 17, 6 p.m.

The Redstone Room, 129 Main Street, Davenport IA

Described by Downbeat magazine as “charismatic and immensely talented” and called a “jazz innovator” by Billboard, singer/saxophonist/composer Kelly not only headlines Polyrhythms' monthly “Third Sunday Jazz Workshop & Matinée Series” on September 17, but appears locally as the first scheduled performer in Quad City Arts' 2017-18 Visiting Artist Series.

Grace wrote her first song at age seven, recorded her first CD at 12, orchestrated and performed an original composition with the Boston Pops Orchestra at 14, and performed at President Barack Obama’s Inauguration at 16. As a bandleader, she has performed more than 700 concerts in notable venues including the Hollywood Bowl, the Kennedy Center, and Carnegie Hall, and has performed and/or recorded with such talents as Harry Connick Jr, Wynton Marsalis, Dave Brubeck, Steve Martin, Tina Fey, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Huey Lewis, and Gloria Estefan. In February, Kelly also launched the weekly video series Grace Kelly PopUp, which boasts more than one million views to date.

Polyrhythms' 6 p.m. concert with Kelly and her ensemble will be preceded by a 3 p.m. “Jazz Demystifying” workshop; tickets are $10-15 for the evening performance, with the workshop $5 for adults and free for students. For tickets and information, contact Polyrhythms at (309)373-0790 or Polyrhythms.org, or the Redstone Room at (563)326-1333 or RiverMusicExperience.org.
