Wilson was propelled to fame by her number-one 2004 hit “Redneck Woman,” which spent five weeks at that position on Billboartd's Country Songs chart, and eventually won the musician the Grammy for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. The song's album Here for the Party has sold five million copies in the United States date, and produced three additional top-10 hit singles between 2004 and 2005. Her second album, 2005's All Jacked Up, sold a million copies in the United States, and its title track was the album's most successful single, reaching number eight on the country chart. Wilson's 2007 album One of the Boys, meanwhile, debuted at number one on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, and by the end of that year, the artist had amassed her ninth Grammy nomination, for “Best Female Country Vocal Performance” for her song “I Don't Feel Like Loving You Today.”

Since then, Wilson has released a quartet a additional studio albums, most recently 2017's Ready to Get Rowdy, as well as a live album (2014's Still Here for the Party) and a holiday album (2013's Christmas in My Heart). She has charted singles with such hits as “You Don't Have to Go Home,” “Don't Do Me No Good,” “If I Could Do It All Again,” “Work Hard, Play Harder,” and “I'd Love to Be Your Last,” the latter of which earned Wilson her most recent Grammy nomination of the nine she's totaled. Beyond her success as a singer/songwriter, Wilson also found her first book – the autobiography Redneck Woman: Stories from My Life – making the New York Times bestseller list, and she has been enormously active in her support of children's charities, raising more than $1.5 million through benefit performances for such organizations as the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
