Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone in Concert at the Adler Theatre -- November 18.

Saturday, November 18, 2 & 8 p.m.

Adler Theatre, 136 East Third Street, Davenport IA

Events will be more magical than usual in the Quad City Symphony Orchestra's annual Holiday Pops presentations, as this year's concerts find the area musicians performing accompaniment to Adler Theatre screenings of Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Store – the first film adapted from J.K. Rowing's iconic series of fantasy/adventure novels.

The Harry Potter film series – which introduced the world to its young stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint – was an immediate cultural phenomenon that continues to delight millions of fans around the world. This autumn's Holiday Pops concerts, meanwhile, will feature the entire 2001 Harry Potter & the Sorcerer’s Stone movie along with music previously removed from the original print – with every note played live by the Quad City Symphony Orchestra conducted by Shih-Hung Young. Audiences will be able to relive the magic of the film in high-definition on a giant screen, with the Hogwarts adventures of Harry, Hermione, Ron Weasley, and the rest augmented by the excitement of John Williams’ unforgettable, Oscar-nominated score.

Area guest Young, a Chinese conductor and violinist from Taiwan, received his Bachelor’s and Master’s of Music degrees from The Juilliard School, and a Doctorate of Music from State University of New York at Stony Brook. He has been on The Juilliard School Pre-College Division faculty since 1995, and in addition to touring with Harry Potter performances, Young serves as a conductor for Howard Shore’s Lord of the Rings: Live to Projection and Lord of the Rings Symphony.

Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone in Concert will be presented at 2 and 8 p.m. on November 18, tickets are $18-58, and reservations can be made by calling (800)745-3000 or visiting AdlerTheatre.com or QCSO.org.
