Quad City Arts Visiting Artists the High & Mighty Brass Band -- March 22 and 24.

Tuesday, March 22, 6:30 p.m.

DeWitt Community Library, 917 Fifth Avenue, DeWitt IA

Thursday, March 24, 6:30 p.m.

The Stern Center, 1713 Third Avenue, Rock Island IL

A collective of powerfully enthusiastic New York City musicians serves as the latest guests in Quad City Arts' Visiting Artist Series, with the gifted touring sensations of the High & Mighty Brass playing performing concerts sets at the DeWitt Community Library on March 22 and Rock Island's Stern Center on March 24.

At present, the High & Mighty Brass Band is composed of nine sterling musicians: drummer Evan Howard; percussionists and vocalists Chauncey Yearwood and Charlie Kay; trumpet players Andrew McGovern and Gabriel King Medd; trombone players Frank Cohen and Nadav Nirenberg; guitarist Andrew Miramonti; and sousaphone player Steve Duffy. And as the group's audiences will attest, there's a reason that legendary groups and artists such as Galactic, Lake Street Dive, and Eli “Paperboy” Reed (on the album Eli “Paperboy” Reed Meets the High & Mighty Brass Band) have all collaborated with the High & Mighty Brass Band since New York City musician Howard founded the ensemble in 2009.

Howard and his rotating cast of musicians have toured all over the world, including performing major concert sets at Bonnaroo, the U.S. Open, the Governor's Ball, and Sonidos Liquidos, and the musicians frequently tour nationally and internationally, entertaining crowds with both their original music and fresh takes on current and classic cover songs. To date, the High & Mighty Brass Band has released a pair of albums in 2010's Round I and last year's Round II, and well the 2015 EP Krewe York:Part I. Among the group's most popular singles on Spotify are “Border Crossing,” “Bad Guy,” “Come Back to Earth,” “Troubles, Heartaches, & Sadness,” “Slow Jamz,” and “Talkin' Out the Side of Your Neck.”

The High & Mighty Brass Band plays a free, abbreviated concert event at the DeWitt Community Library at 6:30 p.m. on March 22, as well as a full-length, $50 PASS concert at Rock Island's Stern Center at 6:30 p.m. on March 24.
