Jessica Lea Mayfield at the Triple Crown Whiskey Bar & Raccoon Motel -- November 14.

Tuesday, November 14, 8 p.m.

Triple Crown Whiskey Bar & Raccoon Motel, 304 East Third Street, Davenport IA

Appearing locally in support of her latest album Sorry Is Gone, singer/songwriter Jessica Lea Mayfield headlines a Moeller Nights concert on November 14, showcasing the alt-folk talents that led Rolling Stone to rave, “Mayfield's echo-laden bluegrass vocals mesh with scorching electric guitar lines to render remarkable results.”

A native of Kent, Ohio, the 28-year-old began performing professionally two decades ago as the eight-year-old member of her family's bluegrass band One Way Rider, and at age 15, her solo-album debut White Lies captured the attention of The Black Keys vocalist/guitarist Dan Auerbach. With Auerbach producing, Mayfield released her first studio album With Blasphemy So Heartfelt in the fall of 2008, and its release effectively jump-started her career; not only did Blurt magazine name it “Best Album of 2008” and Mayfield “Best New Artist of 2008,” but two of its songs wound up featured on episodes of TV's Gossip Girl and CSI:NY.

Mayfield is currently touring in support of her deeply personal September release Sorry Is Gone, which chronicles the artist's years-long journey as a survivor of domestic abuse and her consequent separation from her husband. This collection of 11 songs – described as “terrific, unsettling, and extraordinarily personal” by Billboard magazine – is Mayfield's first solo album since 2014's Make My Head Sing, and has been praised by NPR Music for its “raw, fierce attitude” and American Songwriter for its “expertly rendered songs that split the difference between angst and honesty.”

Jessica Lea Mayfield performs at the Triple Crown Whiskey Bar & Raccoon Motel with opening sets by Blank Range and Mountain Swallower, tickets are $15, and more information is available by visiting MoellerNights.com.
