John Patti's Calyp-Soul Christmas featuring Jenn Bostic at the Redstone Room -- December 7.

Thursday, December 7, 7:30 p.m.

The Redstone Room, 129 Main Street, Davenport IA

Our area's seasonal chill will be offset by some Caribbean heat when steel-pan sensation John Patti brings his Calyp-Soul Christmas to Davenport's Redstone Room on December 7, a night of holiday-themed “island jazz” boasting vocals by award-winning singer/songwriter Jenn Bostic.

A Baltimore native, Patti played his first set of drums at age three, and continued to learn percussion through elementary- and middle-school music programs. At 10, he came across his first set of steel pans – a chromatically pitched percussion instrument made from industrial drums – and quickly started experimenting with the instrument and teaching himself by ear. Within a year, Patti was publicly performing for special events across Maryland and into the Mid-Atlantic region.

After graduating from the University of Maryland and spending several years honing his craft on luxury cruise ships, Patti released his debut studio album Above the Fold in 2006, and followed it with the island-infused jazz and blues of 2010's Cabana Breeze and 2012's A Calyp-Soul Christmas. According to the review of the latter at BroadwayWorld.com, “classics such as 'Silent Night,' 'O Christmas Tree,' and 'Baby It's Cold Outside' take on new life with smooth vocals, exciting percussion, funky bass, and melodic steel drum.”

Joining Patti for his local concert is Bostic, the Nashville-based singer/songwriter who recently won the 2017 British Country Music Association Award for Best Touring Artist of the Year, and also received five 2012 Independent Country Music Association Awards in categories including Best Female Country Artist, Best Musician, and Country Music Song of the Year for “Jealous of the Angels.”

Tickets for John Patti's Calyp-Soul Christmas featuring Jenn Bostic are $12-15, and more information and reservations are available by calling (563)326-1333 or visiting RiverMusicExperience.org.
