An Evening with Junior Brown at the Redstone Room -- October 18.

Wednesday, October 18, 7:30 p.m.

The Redstone Room, 129 Main Street, Davenport IA

A three-time Grammy nominee and winner of 1996's CMA County Music Video of the Year Award, Junior Brown will share with Redstone Room audiences the signature country-Western talents that led Rolling Stone to place the artist's 12 Shades of Brown on its 2015 list of “50 Country Albums Every Rock Fan Should Own.”

Born in Cottonwood, Arizona, the 55-year-old Brown has released nine studio albums over his three-decade career, and has charted twice on Billboard's country-singles chart for 1993's “Highway Patrol” and 1995's “My Wife Thinks You're Dead.” (The video for the latter earned Brown his CMA Award.) But one of his most significant accomplishments came in 1985 when he and Michael Stevens invented a double-necked guitar called a “guit-steel,” which finds its musician standing behind the instrument while it rests on a small podium or music stand. The fame Brown acquired through his performances on the guit-steel made him a fast success on Austin, Texas' county-music circuit, and led to the release of his 1993 debut 12 Shades of Brown.

In the years since, Brown has charted with albums including Semi Crazy, Mixed Bag, and Down Home Chrome, and has expanded his country-Western repertoire to include tunes performed in such genres as blues, Tex-Mex, and surf rock. His music has also been heard extensively in disparate entertainments ranging from the Jim Carrey comedy Me, Myself, & Irene to the Dukes of Hazzard film (which Brown also narrates) to Spongebob SquarePants, and he's the co-composer of the title song for the Emmy-nominated AMC hit Better Call Saul.

Tickets to Junior Brown's Redstone Room concert are $20 in advance and $25 on the day of the show, and for more information and reservations, call (563)326-1333 or visit RiverMusicExperience.com.
