KB and Trip Lee at Harvest Bible Chapel -- October 29.

Sunday, October 29, 7 p.m.

Harvest Bible Chapel, 3800 East 53rd Street, Davenport IA

Two young artists at the forefront of the contemporary hip-hop, rap, and Christian-music scenes bring their “Home Team Tour” to Davenport on October 29, with all proceeds from the KB and Trip Lee concert benefiting the children's charity YouthHope of the Quad Cities.

Born Kevin Elijah Burgess in St. Petersburg, Florida, the 29-year-old KB began his career as a member of the hip-hop group HGA (short for His Glory Alone), and was signed as a solo artist to Beach Records in 2010. His debut album, 2012's Weight & Glory, quickly shot to the top of Billboard's U.S. Gospel and U.S. Christian charts, based in part on its reviews; Rapzilla.com wrote that “KB hit this out of the park,” and Christianity Today raved, “Christian hip-hop doesn't get more fist-pumpingly urgent and soulful as it does when Kevin Burgess, a.k.a. KB, is on the mic.” Since then, KB released a similarly chart-topping EP in 2014's 100, a chart-topping second album in 2015's Tomorrow We Live, and a third – Today We Rebel – being released nine days prior to his Harvest Bible Chapel appearance.

Trip Lee, the stage name of Dallas native William Lee Barefield III, came to musical prominence early, with his Reach Records debut If They Only Knew released just a few days after the teen's high-school graduation. The album's 19 tracks introduced hip-hop fans to his distinct Southern sound and gospel-saturated lyrics, and Lee's follow-up album, 2008's 20/20, reached number-11 on Billboard's Christian chart and number-four on its Gospel chart. In addition to being a four-time Dove Award nominee, receiving “Best Rap/Hip-Hop Album of the Year” nods for 2010's Between Two Worlds and 2012's The Good Life, the 29-year-old Lee is also a published author, with his most recent book 2015's Rise: Get Up & Live in God's Great Story.

Tickets to the 7 p.m. concert with KB and Trip Lee are $15-20, and reservations are available by calling (800)965-9324 or visiting HarvestDavenport.org.
