Quad-Cities Waterfront Convention Center, 2021 State Street, Bettendorf IA
With album sales in excess of 10 million since the band's 1995 launch, the country superstars of Lonestar play the Quad-Cities Waterfront Convention Center on February 16, treating fans to a repertoire that includes such chart-topping singles as “No News,” “Come Crying to Me,” and the crossover smash “Amazed.”
Currently composed of Richie McDonald (lead vocals, acoustic guitar), Michael Britt (lead guitar, background vocals), Dean Sams (keyboards, background vocals) and Keech Rainwater (drums), Lonestar began in 992 as a band named Texasee, derived from the fact that all five original members were natives of Texas but met in Nashville at Tennessee's Opryland USA theme park. The band played its first Nashville concert in 1993 and signed to BNA Records in 1995, winning the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Award for Best New Vocal Group or Duo the very next year. Since then, Lonestar also received the Country Music Association Awards for Vocal Group of the Year along with three additional citations by the ACM, for Vocal Group of the Year, Song of the Year, and Single Record of the Year, the latter two for “Amazed.”
To date, Lonestar has released 12 studio albums (including two Christmas albums), seven greatest-hits packages, and 37 singles. The band's first five releases for BNA Records were all certified gold or higher by the RIAA, with 2003's From There to Here: Greatest Hits certified platinum and 1999's Lonely Grill certified triple-platinum. Other number-one hits for country stars include “What About Now,” “Smile,” and “Tell Her” from Lonely Grill, “Mr. Mom” from 2004's Let's Be Us Again, and 2001's “I'm Already There” from the Lonestar album of the same title.
Tickets to Lonestar's 7:30 p.m. concert on February 16 are $25 for general admission and $35 for VIP seating, and may be reserved by calling (610)241-1616 or visiting IsleBettendorf.com.
