Michael Cera Palin at the Raccoon Motel -- August 7.

Thursday, August 7, 6 p.m.

Raccoon Motel, 315 East Second Street, Davenport IA

Touring in support of their album debut We Could Be Brave, which Dork magazine recently hailed as “the first great emo record of 2025,” the indie-punk trio Michael Cera Palin headlines an August 7 concert at Davenport's Raccoon Motel, The Line of Best Fit adding, “The world might not be so beautiful right now, but in the brave and timely hands of Michael Cera Palin, emo has never been in a better place."

Composed of Elliott Brabant on guitar and vocals, Jon Williams on bass and vocals, and Chad Miller on drums, the musicians, as stated at MichaelCeraPalin.zone, "are an emotive indie-punk trio from Atlanta, Georgia. The band are noted for consciously vulnerable lyrics, a cathartically catchy sound, and an impassioned live show, all forged through a decade of cutting teeth in the genre-fluid arts landscape of their home. Michael Cera Palin's debut LP, We Could Be Brave, displays the band stretching their limbs to prove their growth as both musicians and discerning creatives. 'Feast or Famine,' 'Gracious,' 'Despite,' and 'Wisteria' serve as benchmarks for Michael Cera Palin's prowess of their Midwest Emo roots, each song rich with its own display of the band's dynamic range.

"Michael Cera Palin released two EPs from 2015-2018 before a premature hiatus. After derailed ambitions for their 2020 return (now to a notably larger listenership than they had previously left behind), the band retreated from the social dimension of the community to begin carving their new chapter, and finding a voice of their own. They then released two singles, before starting toward an accelerating tour ethic since 2022, diligently assuring fans along the way that a debut full-length album would be with them in due time. Whether owed to or despite their limited output, Michael Cera Palin's work continues to accrue fervent support, with mounting anticipation of their new material." And as Dork raved about the eagerly anticipated We Could Be Brave: ""There's no sloganeering here, just beautifully observed and smartly elucidated songs about the human condition."

Michael Cera Palin plays their Davenport engagement on August 7 with additional sets by Stars Hollow, Arcadia Grey, and Gunk Lung, admission to the 6 p.m. concert is $23.81, and more information and tickets are available by visiting TheRaccoonMotel.com.
