The Peterson Brothers Band at the Moline Viking Club -- November 15.

Thursday, November 15, 6 p.m.

Moline Viking Club, 1450 41st Street, Moline IL

Lauded by Elmore magazine as “particularly adept at a smooth, funky, groove-laden type of blues that requires a mastery of both musical timing and on-stage rapport,” the Texas-based Peterson Brothers Band plays a local concert co-presented by the Mississippi Valley Blues Society, their November 15 engagement at the Moline Viking Club sure to prove why The Examiner called them “the new rising stars on the Austin music scene.”

Combining youthful energy and modern influences with soul, funk, blues, and jazz to a create a sound that is uniquely their own, the Peterson Brothers Band is co-fronted by siblings Glenn Jr. and Alex, the former 21 years old and the latter 19. Having spent years singing and playing instruments together as children in Bastrop, Texas, the young men recorded their album debut The Peterson Brothers in 2016, a blend of originals and covers recorded under the direction of Chicago-based producer Michael Freeman, who worked with blues legends including Pinetop Perkins and Willie “Big Eyes” Smith. The album not only earned immediate fascination for the musicians' youth, but for their musical ability, with Blues Blast calling The Peterson Brothers “40 minutes of classic blues that sounds just as new as anything Kanye West might release.” Praising the Petersons themselves, the magazine added, “Their vocal talent, keen musicianship, and sharp songwriting skills should put their first CD on radio playlists worldwide … the Peterson Brothers are a bridge between novelty and tradition.”

Over the two years since The Peterson Brothers' release, Glenn Jr., Alex, and their bandmates have toured throughout the United States, and have had the opportunity to perform with and open for the likes of Gary Clark Jr., Robert Randolph & the Family Band, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Buddy Guy, the late B.B. King, and other musical greats. They have also played festivals throughout the U.S., including the Chicago Blues Festival, Minnesota State Fair, Riverbend Festival, Austin City Limits Festival, Ogden Roots & Blues, and King Biscuit Festival, earning them additional accolades nationwide. WaxPoetics.com raved about the band's “intricate and timely licks of different genres and solid bass lines,” while the San Antonion Expresss-News stated, “The only thing missing from the Peterson Brothers Band is the word 'amazing' at the front of the name.”

The Peterson Brothers Band plays the Moline Viking Club on November 15, admission to the 6 p.m. concert is $12-15, and more information on the night is available by calling the Mississippi Valley Blues Society at (563)322-5837 or visiting MVBS.org.
