Friday, February 8, 7:30 p.m.
The Redstone Room, 129 Main Street, Davenport IA
Held in celebration of a new, area-specific streaming program and designed to showcase the talents of artists throughout the Quad Cities, the QC Beats Launch Party and Concert will offer a February 8 introduction to the service at Davenport's Redstone Room, treating patrons to both an insider's look at QC Beats and a stellar collection of performances by favorite local musicians.
Built in partnership with the Davenport Public Library, River Music Experience, and St. Ambrose University, QC Beats is an online streaming audio collection that includes original music performed and composed by Quad Cities musicians and artists. As is explained at QCBeats.org, one of the “benefits of building a collection of featured local artists is to continue expanding the reach of our vibrant creative community by elevating musicians and connecting them with the larger community and local venues. Community members with a Davenport Public Library card will be able to download audio files, and everyone else will be able to stream music at no cost. Our partners established QC Beats not only to share local music but also to support local musicians. That's why you'll eventually find more than just music on QCBeats.org. Artist and album pages feature biographies and information about upcoming shows, links to the musicians' Web sites, social media, and online stores. We hope that QC Beats creates new fans and inspires listeners to support the artists who make the music.”
With the doors opening at 7 p.m., the Redstone Room's QC Beats Launch Party and Concert will open with a 7:30 p.m. performance by folk singer/songwriter Rebecca Casad (who also plays ukulele) and guitarist and U-bass player Alan Morrison, whose 11-track album debut Memoirs was recently made available on Spotify and Apple Music. The evening will end at 10:50 p.m. with dance music by RME veteran TAJ, and four sets in between will complete the party lineup: R&B with Davenport musician Terrance A. Banks under his stage moniker Soultru (8:10 p.m.); roots and folk rock with Quad Cities singer/songwriter and guitarist Lojo Russo (8:50 p.m.); hip-hop and spoken-word artist TC Boyd (9:30 p.m.); and electric blues with Chris Avey and Jeni Grouws, the award-winning musicians performing as the Avey/Grouws Duo (10:10 p.m.).
Admission to the Redstone Room's QC Beats Launch Party and Concert on Ferbruary 8 is free, more information on the event is available at RiverMusicExperience.org, and more on the QC Beats project can be found by visiting QCBeats.org.
