Continuing this season's presentation of thrilling works that debuted across the Atlantic, conductor Mark Russell Smith leads the Quad City Symphony Orchestra in the ensemble's Masterworks V: Postcards from Germany & Austria, a program boasting legendary composers and a special solo by violinist and QCSO Concertmaster Naha Greenholtz.

Canadian violinist Greenholtz was born in Kyoto, Japan, where she began her violin studies at age three. Since her solo debut at 14, concerto appearances include engagements with the Vancouver, Madison, Quad City, Burnaby, Kelowna, and National Repertory Orchestras in works ranging from Bach to Stravinsky. She has also has participated in prominent music festivals throughout the U.S. and Europe, including at Maine's Kneisel Hall, New Mexico's Taos, Italy's Spoleto, Switzerland's Lucerne, and the New York String Orchestra Seminar at Carnegie Hall. Greenholtz has also had an active career as an orchestra musician. In addition to her duties as Concertmaster of both the QCSO and the Madison Symphony Orchestra, her performance highlights include guest concertmaster appearances with the Oregon Symphony, Calgary Philharmonic, National Ballet of Canada, Omaha Symphony, and Memphis Symphony, among many others.

In addition to boasting Greenholtz's solo on Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto – the German composer's final orchestral work – the QCSO's Postcards from Germany & Austria program will feature the swirling themes of Mozart's overture to The Marriage of Figarro, Beethoven's fiery and high-spirited Symphony No. 4, and Paul Hindemith's rhythmic and exciting Symphonic Mtamorphosis on Themes by Carl Maria von Weber.

Tickets to the Masterworks V concert are $8-58 at the Adler Theatre on Saturday and $8-39 at Centennial Hall on Sunday, and more information and reservations are available by visiting QCSO.org.
