An international touring band that has traveled through the United States, Europe, and Canada for more than 20 years, Rick Lindy & the Jukebox Legends bring their exhilarating stage show to Maquoketa's Ohnward Fine Arts Center on September 13, performing hits from the '50s and '60s by such iconic artists as Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly and the Beatles.
Originally formed as Rick Lindy & the Wild Ones Band in 1999 by lead vocalist and guitarist Lindy, the ensemble began as a four-piece unit, initially performing mostly original rockabilly and retro rock songs written by the bandleader. Two original albums were released on a Norwegian record label and the band toured all over Europe for two years, eventually adding mainstream 1950s' and '60s songs and touring all over the United States. Based in Chicago and playing hundreds of engagements per year, the Jukebox Legends show was developed in 2018, around the same time as the debut of Rick Lindy’s Salute to Roy Orbison. Both shows highlight the hits of the legendary performers, and fascinating historical facts and background information is delivered along with songs from the most beloved performers of the classic-rock era.
In addition to being a popular and acclaimed musician, Lindy is a painter and sculptor, and has been featured in a number of magazines and newspapers for both his art and music. He is also an actor who has appeared in numerous stage plays and musicals. In 1990, after graduating from the American Academy of Art in Chicago, Lindy auditioned for The Serendipty Singers and was granted the job. With that ensemble Lindy traveled and performed all over the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. He consequently went on to form many bands over the last 40 years, and has enjoyed a career that has allowed him to perform throughout Europe for eight years, as well as nationally, his recent tours including visits to Texas, South Carolina, and many other states.
