The River City Boys at the Ohnward Fine Arts Center -- July 15.
Saturday, July 15, 2 p.m.
Ohnward Fine Arts Center, 1215 East Platt Street, Davenport IA
Performing a salute to the legendary Americana/country musicians who have amassed five Grammy Awards, two Academy of Country Music Awards, and three Country Music Association Awards, the Nashville-based River City Boys headline a July 15 concert event at Maquoketa's Ohnward Fine Arts Center, delivering highlights from a 47-year career in A Tribute to the Statlers 2002 Farewell Concert.
Since 1955, the Statler Brothers have released 38 albums and 69 singles, and when they retired in 2002, they left millions of fans wanting more. The River City Boys are currently bringing more with their retrospective boasting such hit songs as "Flowers on the Wall," "Do You Remember TheseM" "Do You Know You are My Sunshine," and many more. Patrons are invited to travel back in time with The River City Boys, all of whom are veteran members of many favorite gospel groups, and all of them big Statler fans.
Band leader Jamie Coyne is the group's singer, publisher, entrepreneur, marketer, broadcaster, and food enthusiast. He has been entertaining audiences since he was in high school where he was featured in Seventeen magazine, having worked fairs and casinos as well as in Branson and Las Vegas. Coyne, who formed the River City Boys in 2012, has also presented and worked with hundreds of artists including Bobby Vinton, Mickey Rooney, Pat Boone, The Osmonds, Gallagher, and The Oak Ridge Boys.
Growing up in a musical family, the group's tenor Brian Worley felt the desire to perform at an early age. He started singing with his family’s group, Worley Quartet, and his full-time singing career started in 2004. In 2008, Worley was asked to join the legendary Stamps Quartet as their tenor, and four years later, he started his own group Mission Quartet before joining the River City Boys. Brian's brother Josh Worley, the River City Boys' baritone, helped his brother form Mission Quartet, and has enjoyed the opportunity to fill in with several well known quartets. The ensemble's bass singer Scot Riggle, meanwhile, spent eight years in the Army National Guard and has been a boiler operator for 28 years. Riggle has sung in several groups including the Capital City Boys and currently with his own group Southern Trio. He has also been singing with Jamie Coyne since 2006, and joined the River City Boys in the year of its inception.
