Shook Twins @ The Redstone Room - September 22.

Friday, September 22, 8 p.m.

The Redstone Room, 129 Main Street, Davenport IA

Performing folk, pop, and indie-rock numbers that inspired Acoustic Guitar magazine to call them “a band that packs a tremendous amount of artistry and talent into their compositions,” Katelyn and Laurie Shook return to the Redstone Room in a fall tour that will find the sisters also traveling to Chicago, Nashville, Philadelphia, and New York City.

Originally from Sandpoint, Idaho, and currently based in Portland, Oregon, the identical-twin sisters and singer/songwriters officially formed their music duo in 2004, with Katelyn playing instruments including guitar, mandolin, banjo, ukulele, and glockenspiel, and Laurie on upright bass, djembe, ocarina flute, tambourine, and “giant golden egg” – an unusual percussion instrument whose oval shape is filled with popcorn kernels. The siblings released their CD debut You Can Have the Rest in 2008, and in the years since, have shared stages with a host of gifted artists, among them Ryan Adams, Mason Jennings, the Indigo Girls, The BoDeans, and the Carolina Chocolate Drops. Shook Twins also released the breakout single “Call Me Out” in the summer of 2016, and the band's most recent album What We Do was described b Relix magazine as “their best work yet, and a true cohesive statement.”

Shook Twins perform locally with an opening set by Marah in the Mainsail, tickets are $12-15, and more information and reservations are available by calling (563)326-1333 or visiting RiverMusicExperience.org.
