Tedeschi Trucks Band at the Adler Theatre -- April 17.

Tuesday, April 17, 8 p.m.

Adler Theatre, 136 East Third Street, Davenport IA

Winners of four Blues Music Awards and a 2012 Grammy Award for Best Blues Album, the 12-piece talents of the Tedeschi Trucks Band take the Adler Theatre stage on April 17, filling the Davenport venue with the exhilarating sounds that led the Denver Post to praise the group's “stellar musicianship” and the Philadelphia Inquirer to extol its “joy-filled blast of blues, soul, and rock.”

Led by the husband-and-wife duo of guitarist and vocalist Susan Tedeschi and slide guitarist Derek Trucks, the Tedeschi Trucks Band began as the summer touring unit Soul Stew Revival, which served as both musical endeavor and practical way for the pair to spend time together with their young family. Soul Stew Revival featured members of the married musicians' individual bands and numerous guest musicians, and the loose-knit collective performed roof-raising shows full of soul, blues, funk, and gospel standards, as well as original material. Tedeschi and Trucks eventually solidified an 11-piece ensemble, adding horn players and percussionists, and renamed the group the Tedeschi Trucks Band. Signing to Sony's Masterworks imprint, the new outfit recorded over 30 songs, paring the selection down to 11 tracks for the debut album Revelator, which was released in June 2011 and went on to win the Grammy for Best Blues Album.

With the group's Live from the Fox Oakland nominated for a 2018 Grammy for Best Contemporary Blues Album, the Tedeschi Trucks Band's other accolades this decade have included a 2016 nomination from the Americana Music Honors & Awards as Duo/Group of the Year, plus two Blues Music Awards each for Band of the Year (in 2014 and 2017) and Rock Blues Album of the Year (for 2014's Make Up Mind and 2017's Let Me Get By). All three of the group's studio albums have also landed in the top-15 of Billboard's Top 200 album sales charts, and the musicians received wide acclaim for their hosting of a Joe Cocker tribute concert at the 2015 Lockn' Festival, which featured the Tedeschi Trucks Band jamming alongside musicians from many of Cocker's previous touring groups.

The Tedeschi Trucks Band performs locally alongside special guest Charlie Parr, admission is $32.50-79.50, and tickets are available by calling (800)745-3000 or visiting AdlerTheatre.com.
