The Menzingers at RIBCO -- October 12.

Thursday, October 12, 8 p.m.

Rock Island Brewing Company, 1815 Second Avenue, Rock Island IL

Composed of the same quartet that co-founded the group more than 10 years ago, The Menzingers will play RIBCO on October 12 in support of the punk rockers' latest LP After the Party, a February release that SputnikMusic.com called “not only the band's strongest album lyrically, but their most upbeat, fun, and catchy record yet.”

Originating in Scranton, Pennsylvania, in 2006, The Menzingers formed after the disbanding of two other local punk outfits: Kos Mos, featuring guitarist Greg Barnett, and Bob & the Sagets, which boasted bass player Eric Keen, guitarist Tom May, and drummer Joe Godino. After the newly united foursome recorded a demo and were deemed “one of the most exciting new bands in the world” by PunkNews.org, they were signed by Go-Kart Records for their first studio album, 2007's A Lesson in the Abuse of Information Technology. As the LP's producer Jesse Cannon told PunkNews.org, “The Menzingers have it all: the songs, the aggression, the heart, and the passions that most only dream of.”

After the release of their 2009 EP Hold On Dodge and 2010's full-length album Chamberlain Waits, The Menzingers signed with Epitaph Records and recorded 2012's On the Impossible Past, a critically acclaimed work that went on to receive “Album of the Year” citations by AbsolutePunk.net, PunkNews.org, and the Spanish periodical RockZone. The years since have found the band touring as headliners throughout North America, Europe, and Australia, and sharing concert and festival stages with the likes of The Smith Street Band, Off with Their Heads, and Pianos Become the Teeth.

Advance tickets to The Menzingers' 8 p.m. concert are $20, and more information is available by calling (309)793-1999 or visiting RIBCO.com.
