Too Slim & the Taildraggers at Harley Corin's -- August 17.

Friday, August 17, 7:30 p.m.

Harley Corin's, 1708 State Street, Bettendorf IA

Performing a special August 17 concert presented by the Mississippi Valley Blues Society, the Nashville-based blues-rock trio Too Slim & the Taildraggers plays Bettendorf's Harley Corin's in support of the musicians' latest album High Desert Heat, a release RockAndBluesMuse.com called “a testament to the power and gravity that only comes with time,” and Blues Blast magazine lauded with “The sound is big, the sound is rocking, and the band gives a no-holds-barred performance.”

Formed by lead vocalist and guitarist Tim “Too Slim” Langford in Spokane, Washington, in 1986, Too Slim & the Taildraggers made its album debut with 1988's Swingin' in the Underworld, and had another three recordings – 1990's Rock 'em Dead, 1992's El Rauncho Grundge, and 1995's Swamp Opera – under their belts when the Inland Empire Blues Society named the group “Best Blues Band” of 1995. With their influences ranging from Lightin' Hopkins to Freddy King to Lynyrd Skynyrd, the musicians went on to earn that title for four straight years, while the Cascade Blues Association, beginning in 1995, named Too Slim & the Taildraggers “Best Regional Band” for an incredible 11 years in a row.

Their music having been featured on MTV's The Real World and Road Rules, Too Slim & the Taildraggers have thus far released 14 studio albums and five live albums, with all six of their studio releases sinbce 2007 landing in the Top 10 of Billboard's Top Blues Albums chart. The band also received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Washington State Blues Society in 2012, with the group's album Shiver a Blues Music Award nominee for “Best Rock Blues Album” that same year. Currently composed of Langford, Robert Kearnes on bass and vocals, and Jeffrey “Shakes” Fowlkes on drums, Too Slim & the Taildraggers' 2018 release High Desert Heat debuted at number four on Billboard's charts, and was described by RootsMusicReport.com as “a consistently satisfying set of high-powered, lyrically strong blues rock.”

Admission to the August 17 Too Slim & the Taildraggers' concert at Harley Corin's is $10-12, the show starts at 7:30 p.m., and more information is available by contacting the Mississippi Valley Blues Society at (563)322-5837 or visiting MVBS.org.
