Twain @ the Triple Crown Whiskey Bar & Raccoon Motel -- November 19.

Sunday, November 19, 7 p.m.

Triple Crown Whiskey Bar & Raccoon Motel, 304 East Third Street, Davenport IA

Described by Uproxx.com as an outfit that “nestles comfortably between the zany psych-folk of Dr. Dog and the elegant creaminess of Spacebomb’s lush sound,” singer/songwriter Mt Davidson and his Brooklyn-based band Twain perform at the Triple Crown Whiskey Bar & Raccoon Motel as the latest Moeller Nights concert headliners, and in support of their newest album Rare Feeling.

Davidson spent the early part of the last decade in folk and Americana ensembles including The Deslondes, Spirit Family Reunion, and The Low Anthem, releasing his now out-of-print Twain debut Madeline in 2005, and following it with 2007's Sleeping Tree. His Web site described the latter as “nice for putting on while biking thru some leaves falling, preparing your favorite egg dish, sitting at a desk with the window open and thinking, taking off your clothes in front of someone for the first time and you're a little shy, and sleeping.” But Davidson began amassing praise from actual reviewers with 2010's Love Is All Around, which KneeledScales.com called a “sudden evolution” and “a distinct breakthrough … in no small part owing to the addition of musicians Peter Pezzimenti (drums and vibes) and Ken Woodward (basses).”

Davidson and Twain gained listeners and tour dates with 2014's well-received Life Labors in the Choir, and are set to gain more with the musicians' newest release, which led PlaylistPlay.com to state, “Rare Feeling is actually how we categorize the atmosphere felt while enjoying the album, as it draws us into simplicity and dissonance with each track.” NoDepression.com, meanwhile, raved, “I can’t recommend enough that you should listen and re-listen and re-listen to these songs. There is such depth and beauty in them. It’s a record that bears careful and attentive listening and it will surprise you with each spin.”

Twain performs locally with an opening set by Dickie, tickets are $10, and more information is available by visiting MoellerNights.com.
