Wild Rivers at the Triple Crown Whiskey Bar & Raccoon Motel -- February 11.

Sunday, February 11, 8 p.m.

Triple Crown Whiskey Bar & Raccoon Motel, 304 East Third Street, Davenport IA

Fronted by Canadian singer/songwriters Devan Glover and Khalid Yassein – described by PopMatters.com as “two fabulous singers who harmonize perfectly, like two people born to perform together – the indie-folk quartet Wild Rivers plays a Moeller Nights concert on February 11, creating a sound the Web site also deemed “completely contemporary and fresh.”

Wild Rivers originated as folk duo Devan & Khalid, whose 2014 debut EP This Town was praised for the insicive lyrics and haunting melodies of songs “No Ribbons,” “Blue June,” and “Paul Simon.” But feeling they wanted to expand their folk-duo stylings into a fuller band sound, Glover and Yassein recruited Andrew Oliver on bass and guitar and Ben Labenski on drums, and in 2015, the newly formed Wild Rivers released its self-titled album debut, a work in which, according to the Canadian music journal GrayOwlPoint.com, “Devan Glover and Khalid Yassein's rich, mournful vocals find themselves evenly matched by equally layered instrumentation.”

The album yielded over four million Spotify streams and led to Wild Rivers headlining a sold-out show at Toronto's Adelaide Hall, as well as North American tours throughout Canada and the United States. Finding influences from James Taylor, Fleetwood Mac, and many of Canada's indie-rock mainstays, Wild Rivers has prided itself on blending a classic feel with their own unique flavor, as evidenced by the band's rave reviews. The Revue acclaimed Wild Rivers' “terrific harmonies and skillful musicianship,” and according to TheShotgunSeat.com, “Their harmonies are stunning, lyricism poignant, and guitar rhythms road-trip-worthy.”

Wild Rivers performs at the Triple Crown Whiskey Bar & Raccoon Motel with an opening set by The Velies, tickets to the 8 p.m. concert are $10, and more information is available by visiting MoellerNights.com.
