Legacy Reunion of Earth, Wind & Fire Alumni at the Adler Theatre -- February 16.

Thursday, February 16, 7:30 p.m.

Adler Theatre, 136 East Third Street, Davenport IA

A celebration of one of the best-selling bands of all time, with sales of over 90 million records worldwide, the Legacy Tour of Earth, Wind & Fire comes to Davenport's Adler Theatre to February 16, treating fans to an evening of monster grooves, high energy, and danceable hits with numerous past and former members – among more than 30 over the past half-century – of the chart-topping, Grammy-winning ensemble.

With their music spanning the genres of jazz, R&B, soul, funk, disco, pop, Latin, and Afro-pop, Earth, Wind & Fire was founded in Chicago by Maurice White in 1969, with its prominent members including Philip Bailey, Verdine White, Ralph Johnson, Larry Dunn, Al McKay, Roland Bautista, Robert Brookins, Sonny Emory, Fred Ravel, Ronnie Laws, Sheldon Reynolds and Andrew Woolfolk. The band is known for its kalimba sound, dynamic horn section, energetic and elaborate stage shows, and contrast between Bailey's falsetto and Maurice's baritone, and has won six Grammys out of 17 nominations, plus four American Music Awards out of 12 nominations. They have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, the NAACP Image Award Hall of Fame, and Hollywood's Rockwalk, and earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Earth, Wind & Fire has also received an ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Heritage Award, a BET Lifetime Achievement Award, a Soul Train Legend Award, a NARAS Signature Governor's Award, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, the 2012 Congressional Horizon Award, and the Kennedy Center Honors in 2019.

Having been lauded as one of the most innovative and commercially successful acts of all time, Rolling Stone called Earth, Wind & Fire "innovative, precise yet sensual, calculated yet galvanizing" and declared that the band "changed the sound of black pop," while VH-1 has described the group as "one of the greatest bands" in history. Among their albums that have landed on various Billboard charts, 1974's Open Eyes, 1975's That's the Way of the World, 1977's All in All, 1979's I Am, and 1981's Raise! all made it to number-one positions, while additional top-10 smashes have included 1973's Head to the Sky, 1980's Faces, 1983's two-fer of Powerlight an Electric Universe, and 2013's Now, Then & Forever. Earth, Wind & Fire's hit singles, meanwhile, boast the chart-toppers “Shining Star,” “Sing a Song,” “Getaway,” and “System of Survival,” with 1978's “September” 6x-platinum certified by the RIAA.
