DES MOINES, IOWA (April 12, 2019) — Lieutenant Governor Adam Gregg will present the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Governor’s Cup ROTC Award for outstanding achievement to one student from each of the following ROTC programs: Buena Vista University; Iowa State University; University of Dubuque; University of Iowa; and the University of Northern Iowa. The ceremony occurred today at the Joint Forces Headquarters, Iowa National Guard, 6100 NW 78th Ave, Johnston, Iowa.

Here are this year’s honorees:

  • Cadet Lt Col Marissa A Whitney, University of Northern Iowa Army ROTC, the daughter of Mr Wayland Whitney and Mrs Jennifer Whitney of Marion, Iowa.
  • Cadet Lt Col Megan E Winston, University of Dubuque Army ROTC, the daughter of Mr Marty Winston and Mrs Bonnie Winston of Augusta, Illinois.
  • Cadet Colonel Connor Neil N Patrone, University of Iowa Air Force ROTC, the son of Mr Neil Patrone and Mrs Kathy Patrone, of Spring Grove, Illinois.
  • Cadet Anders J Chelgren, Iowa State University Army ROTC, the son of Mr. Brent Chelgren and Mrs Jill Chelgren of Edina, Minnesota.
  • Cadet Jacob M Heath, Buena Vista University Army ROTC, the son of Mr Brian Heath and Mrs Michelle of Gretna, Nebraska.
  • Cadet Salenna C Hedgepath, Drake University ROTC, the daughter of Lt Col Robert and Rebekah Hedgepath, of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
  • Midshipman First Class McKinley M Spading, Iowa State University Navy ROTC (USNR), the son of Mr Rob Spading and Mrs Carolyn Spading of Atkins, Iowa.
  • Cadet Gunnery Sergeant Alfredo Hernandez, Iowa State University Navy ROTC (USMCR), the spouse of Mrs Ana D Hernandez of Des Moines, Iowa and son of Salvador and Ana M Hernandez of San Diego, California.
  • Cadet First Lt Nicholas B Pollock, Iowa State University Air Force ROTC, the son of Mr Brian and Mrs Susan Pollock of Overland Park, Kansas.  
  • Cadet Major Katherine McKeever, University of Iowa Army ROTC, the daughter of Mr Scott McKeever of Woodstock, Illinois and Mrs Cari McKeever of Lake in the Hills, Illinois.
