Learning Lounge’s spring semester begins March 14 with support from Nelson Chiropractic

DAVENPORT, IOWA (February 26, 2019) — The Putnam’s next season of its adult learning series, The Learning Lounge, is all about sharpening your mind through self-care.

The once-a-month program for lifelong learners 21 and older kicks off its season Thursday, March 14, 6:30-8PM, with "Your Body v Technology", led by Dr Traci Nelson-Johnson of Nelson Chiropractic.

Visitors will receive a complimentary drink and appetizer as they learn from Dr Nelson-Johnson how to achieve a healthier work-life balance and ways to battle workplace fatigue.

“Given the fast-paced world we live in, it’s easy for everyday stressors to pile up and spill into other areas of our lives,” said Dr Nelson-Johnson. “This season of the Learning Lounge will help guests feel better through time-tested stress-management techniques, and to loosen up and make new friends.”

Nelson Chiropractic, as the sponsor of this semester’s Learning Lounge, also will host free spinal screenings, 1-4PM, on March 9, April 13, and May 11 at the Putnam.

Additional Learning Lounge workshops are planned through May 2, giving visitors the chance to enjoy adult beverages and learn from other inspiring guests and local professionals.

Upcoming workshops include:

"More Than Massages: Moving Past Skin-Deep Self Care" (April 4, 6:30-8PM) — What happens when massages and bath balms and mani/pedis come up short, leaving you with a sense of never being fulfilled, of never having enough, of never being enough? Learn from Sarah Stevens, founder of The Beautiful Project, as she unpacks an approach to self-care that moves us beyond basic comforts and toward a radical invitation to loving ourselves without limits.

"No Worries" (May 2, 6:30-8PM): Pamela Crouch, executive director of Living Proof Exhibits, leads this uplifting workshop. Using art as a way to de-stress, visitors can focus on creativity and shed the day’s worries. Guests will create Notes of Hope — stamping and coloring cards and writing messages to cancer patients.

Space is limited for Learning Lounge workshops, and preregistration is required by the Wednesday before each event.
