Springfield, IL – Republican Attorney General candidate Gary Grasso is calling for a federal investigation into the corrupt property tax assessment system in Cook County because local authorities have proven incapable of dealing with the systemic problems in the way taxes are assessed.   Grasso has written a letter to U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions asking for his office to investigate the property tax assessment problems in Cook County. “The unwillingness of Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan to step up and help taxpayers in Cook County is appalling,” Grasso said. "Families need help now and so I am asking Attorney General Jeff Session to investigate this situation.” Grasso says he will work with federal law enforcement agencies to rout out corruption in Cook County and throughout the State of Illinois. “I will not shy away from using the power of the Attorney General’s office to investigate, pursue and refer for prosecution the perpetrators of the clout epidemic at the root of Illinois’ political corruption,” Grasso said. “I will use the bully-pulpit of the office, its power of subpoena, the AG investigators, and lawsuits to bring Illinois’ corruption to the forefront to change the culture of politics in our state and save Illinois from financial destruction.”
