(Davenport – IA) The Downtown Davenport Partnership (DDP) is eager to launch its new festival, Alternating Currents, featuring headliner Ben Folds. On August 25 and 26, 16 venues across downtown Davenport will host a wide variety of live music, film screenings, comedians, and visual arts. Patrons can expect 100+ performances, film-screenings, and art events; people are encouraged to travel from venue to venue and discover all downtown has to offer.  While some events are ticketed, 12 of the venues offer free programming all weekend indoors and outdoors.  Artist bios, screening info, event descriptions, schedules, tickets, and festival details can be found at www.alternatingcurrentsqc.com

“The incredible growth of downtown Davenport and the Quad Cities provided us the opportunity to host this diverse, exciting, and creative festival,” said Kyle Carter, Executive Director, DDP.  Downtown will be bursting with energy, and whether you’re familiar with this style of fest or the acts we’ve booked, just come downtown; I’m certain you’ll discover something new to love.”

The Adler Theatre is selling tickets to Ben Folds, as well as festival Weekend Passes for select venues. The $15 Weekend Pass gives the ticket holder priority access for all music performances at Daytrotter, Redstone Room at River Music Experience, and Triple Crown Whiskey Bar and Raccoon Motel. The pass can also save music fans money if planning to attend multiple shows; access to concerts at each of these select venues is $5 per show without the pass.

Free kid-friendly programming will be featured on the Genesis Family Stage on Saturday afternoon at the River Music Experience Courtyard.  Parents are also encouraged to bring kids to the Quad-City Arts Chalk Art Festival and OMG Becky Fest Handmade & Vintage Festival all weekend.  Numerous concerts and movies are also family-friendly; please see the Alternating Currents website for detailed band and movie bios, and please consider age-restrictions at certain venues.
