MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS (June 30, 2023) — While Scholars Day 2023 was a success, with scores of students receiving awards at the Honors Convocation in the morning and presenting their research in the afternoon, the event also looked ahead a year, as a logo for the Scholars Day 2024 was selected.

The winning design was created by art major Averi Rangel ('26) of Moline, Illinois.

"I entered the logo contest just for fun, but also to get some experience using more digital art and graphic design," said Rangel. "I had no intention of thinking my logo would be picked as the winning design."

She said the logo didn't take long to create, but once she had her idea on the screen, "I wanted it to look as nice as possible, so I did several touch-ups to perfect it. I wanted it to be unique and not seen before. That's why I incorporated Scotty into the design."

Rangel, who also has a minor in investigative forensics, hopes her experiences at Monmouth lead her to become either a forensics artist or a graphic designer for athletic logos.
