Meet our guest Violist Jenwei Yu

Jenwei  Yu is a freelance violist based in the Quad Cities area. A graduate of Arizona State and DePaul University, and a recent member of Civic Orchestra of Chicago as principal viola, he has worked with esteemed conductors and musicians such as Pierre Boulez, Bernard Haitink, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Kent Nagano, Yo-Yo Ma, Renee Fleming, the Jofferey Ballet and members of Silk Road Ensemble. He is also an avid chamber musician as well as a passionate educator, recently being part of the Orchestra Iowa chamber series and Music in the Schools program. Jenwei regularly performs with Des Moines, Omaha, Orchestra Iowa, Quad City, Dubuque, Waterloo-Cedar Falls, Chattanooga, Northwest Indiana Symphonies as well as Fort Wayne Philharmonic. Always looking for unique and exciting collaboration opportunities, Jenwei has recorded with indie bands at Daytrotter, and is currently working with Ballet Quad Cities' Artistic Director Courtney Lyon's new choreography for ballet and solo Bach, possible new commissioned work with saxophone as well in the near future. Jenwei is also a participant of Quad City Symphony's private lesson program, and he is also maintaining a growing private teaching studio in the Quad Cities area. When he is not busy on the road performing and teaching, Jenwei enjoys casual road trips and visiting restaurants and breweries where he travels. One of his goals is to visit all of the national parks in the United States.
