Trip will be Amy O’Rourke’s 1st to Iowa; Beto continues to lead all candidates in Iowa events, counties this cycle

DES MOINES, IOWA (May 23, 2019) — Following a standout CNN town hall Tuesday night in Des Moines, Beto for America is announcing that O'Rourke and his wife, Amy, will make their first joint trip to Iowa from June 7-10. This will be Beto’s fifth visit to the Hawkeye State as he grows his grassroots campaign in Iowa and across the United States. The four-day visit will include the Capital City Pride Fest Saturday in Des Moines and the Iowa Democrats Hall of Fame dinner on Sunday in Cedar Rapids. O’Rourke has already done 67 town halls and other events in 36 counties across Iowa — the most of any candidate in the field this cycle. He’s held events in small towns, big cities, and house parties in a variety of areas across the state, including counties that went for President Obama but flipped to President Trump, Democratic strongholds, and conservative rural Iowa. O'Rourke just spent three days traveling across Iowa having conversations with Iowans about how we fight the effects of climate change, uphold women’s reproductive rights, and keep our families safe from our nation’s gun-violence epidemic. The trip culminated at Drake University in Des Moines for widely-acclaimed, nationally-televised CNN Town Hall. Since launching his candidacy for President of the United States in March, O’Rourke has hosted 150 events with tens of thousands of Americans in 118 cities across 14 states and the District of Columbia. He has personally driven over 6,150 miles as his grassroots campaign has criss-crossed the United States answering more than 1,000 questions from voters.
