IOWA CITY, IOWA (August 13, 2025) — Block party season is here — and Big Grove Brewery is bringing the good vibes and good deeds. From Friday, August 15, through Sunday, August 17, all Iowa Big Grove locations will host the Neighborhood Block Party weekend — a celebration of our local neighborhoods and powering community projects. This three-day locally-inspired bash will spotlight and support community causes with every Neighborhood Beer sold making an even bigger difference. For every pint poured or to-go pack sold of Neighborhood Beer, Big Grove will double its usual good-giving donation through the weekend, helping strengthen the communities it calls home.
The Neighborhood Beer, Big Grove’s “beer that gives back,” funds Neighborhood micro-grants through the Big Grove for Good Foundation, providing direct support to individuals and organizations focused on community betterment projects. Big Grove For Good is an independent, private 501(c)(3) organization committed to strengthening neighborhoods and communities where Big Grove operates and has a presence.
“By providing funding, we support initiatives that make a meaningful impact, fostering positive change and empowering organizations dedicated to improving lives.” — Big Grove For Good Foundation
To make the impact even greater, 7G Distributing will match Big Grove’s donation in Eastern Iowa up to $5,000.
“This weekend isn’t just about enjoying great beer and food, it’s about coming together to support local organizations that are doing amazing work and making a meaningful difference,” said Mikala Demet, Executive Director, Big Grove for Good Foundation. “Since the launch of our Neighborhood Beer, we’ve distributed over $20,000 in micro-grants, with each organization or person receiving between $250 to $1000.”
One of this year’s grants was awarded to the Solon American Legion to support the heartfelt tradition of honoring our nation’s veterans at the Solon Oakland Cemetery. The $600 micro-grant enabled the group to line the graves of 200 valiant service members with flags during Memorial Day weekend, a poignant tribute to their bravery and sacrifice. This project is a clear example of the mission of Big Grove’s Neighborhood Beer, celebrating inspiring neighbors, empowering people to bring positive change, and recognizing that strong communities are the result of small acts of kindness and connection.
