Biomarkers 101

DAVENPORT, IA (January 22, 2019) — February 2019: Gilda’s Club is hosting a FREE workshop for anyone impacted by cancer titled “Biomarkers 101” on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, from 6PM — 8PM at Gilda’s Club (1234 East River Drive, Davenport, IA).

Join Grant Cale from Bristol-Myers Squibb for a workshop about biomarkers. Biomarkers are molecules in your body that can tell doctors whether cells are acting normally or abnormally, and can sometimes be used to tell if a disease, like cancer, is present. They can be used to help determine the best course of treatment for a person’s specific type of cancer.

This workshop will cover:

•              What is a biomarker?

•              Different types of cancer biomarkers

•              Why are biomarkers important in cancer treatment decision-making?

•              The biomarker testing process

Dinner will be provided with RSVP.

Anyone impacted by cancer is welcome to attend. Registration is required. RSVP online at https://www.gildasclubqc.org/calendar.
