MOLINE, ILLINOIS – The Black Box Theatre is proud to present the area premiere of “Crowns: A Gospel Musical” by Regina Taylor.  The play with music and dance, is adapted from a book by Michael Cunningham and Craig Marberry. “Crowns” weaves together a variety of stories from different characters, time periods and perspectives while teaching Yolonda, a young African-American girl visiting her grandmother after the death of her brother, about her place in the world, and her place in her own culture.

The production is co-directed by Cynthia Westbrook Bryson and Lora Adams (Black Box co-founder) and stars Geraldine Sumrall, Loredia Dixon, Bonnie Jacobs, Cynthia Johnson, Amari Antoinette Harris and Anania Jay Michael Collins Williams. Costume and Set design by Lora Adams with hats designed by Susan Snider. Lighting design by David Miller.

Tickets are on sale for the production at theblackboxtheatre.com. The show runs April 26-28 at 7:30 pm, April 29 and May 6 at 2:30 pm, May 3 and 5 (no show on the 4th) at 7:30 pm.
