Blackhawk Chapter ABATE of Illinois has important news regarding our Board of Directors which will have an effect on the nominations and elections for our 2018 officers.

The Chapter will be having nominations and elections for the 2018 board starting in October, and we will be needing some candidates and some new officers. Now is the time to think about running for an office for 2018 so that we can continue to fulfill the mission of ABATE of Illinois.

The mission of ABATE of Illinois is to preserve the universal right to a safe, unrestricted motorcycling environment.

It was announced at the June chapter meeting that our Chapter president, Brian Enburg and our Chapter treasurer, Carla Enburg would both be stepping down from any board positions for the year 2018. This is due to health issues. Brian and Carla have put many years into serving this chapter on the board in one office or another. Brian is currently our Chapter president, and a State representative, and has been past president, past State representative, and past Northwest Region coordinator. Carla is currently our treasurer, and the State newsletter coordinator, and has been past Chapter secretary, and past Chapter newsletter coordinator. They have likely held other positions within the Chapter, so hopefully I have not forgotten any. On behalf of the Chapter, I would like to acknowledge them for their years of service to Blackhawk Chapter ABATE of Illinois. The Chapter wishes nothing but the best for them.

That being said, the Chapter WILL be needing a new president and treasurer for the year 2018.

We will also be needing a new Blackhawk River Rally Coordinator for 2018 as Kelly Snyder will be stepping down. Kelly has done an excellent job running this for 4 years. If anyone is interested, Kelly will gladly show him or her the ropes or answer any questions. This is not an elected position, but an appointed one.

There is definitely a shift needed in our next Board of Directors. With the offices of president and treasurer being open, and the possibility of current board members running for other positions and/or possibly resigning, the present board would like to reach out to any members who may be interested in running for an officer position. Nominations start in October, but with the changes taking effect, now is the perfect time to start expressing an interest if anyone is considering being an officer. Feel free to contact any chapter officer or come to a chapter meeting if interested, or if there are any concerns or questions. Officer positions are as follows: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Legislative Coordinator, State Representative (2 positions), Membership, Products, Safety and Ed, Public Relations, Webmaster, Sgt at Arms (currently 4 positions), Activities, Newsletter. Current Chapter officers’ contact information can be found on our website at http://docjenkins.wixsite.com/blackhawk. Click on contacts/officers.
